Guardian Veterinary Emergency, Orange County is an independently owned,  veterinary emergency hospital in Middletown, New York. Our entire team is dedicated to providing the very best and most progressive care to all of our patients, and courteous service to our clients and primary care veterinary partners. We have immediate openings for Client Care Representatives for all shifts.

Guardian Veterinary Specialists is seeking Client Care Representatives (CCRs) for full-time positions. CCRs provide the first and last impression of each client’s visit to our hospital. CCRs are responsible for providing excellent client care and communications, as well as clear and timely communications with the medical staff.

Qualifications include ability to perform clerical work with speed and accuracy; must be adept at using a multiple-line telephone system, handling and processing cash and other forms of payment. Must be able to learn veterinary management software.

Licensed Veterinary Technicians- All Shifts

Position Overview: We are currently seeking Veterinary Technicians to join our team on both a full-time and part-time basis. You will work with a talented and supportive group, delivering top-notch emergency care to our patients.

Qualified applicants for this role:

  • Shift and Schedule: 4 day work week. Weekends, holidays and on calls required.
  • Perform basic to intermediate nursing care tasks, patient monitoring, and treatments.
  • Use understanding of common diseases and conditions, physical assessment, and monitoring parameters to accurately triage incoming patients.
  • Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications and understand potential adverse effects of medications
  • Set-up, monitor, and administer intravenous fluid therapy including constant rate infusions and blood transfusion therapy.
  • Contribute to incoming outpatient care and ongoing inpatient care.
  • Collect samples and perform in house diagnostic tests
  • Perform nursing care tasks such as placing and/or maintaining urinary catheters, nasoenteral tubes, nasal oxygen tubes, chest and abdominal tubes.
  • Administer, monitor, and maintain patients under general anesthesia
  • Perform vascular access techniques including jugular catheter placement, sampling line placement, central line placement.
  • Participate in formulating treatment, anesthetic, and nursing care plans.
  • Conduct treatments according to protocolized plans.
  • Aid in managing patient care workload to ensure the patients are receiving uncompromised care.
  • Organize work area and exercise time management skills to maximize personal efficiency within the practice.
  • Prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks in a calm manor
  • Client Communication
  • Additional duties as assigned based on position/department

Veterinary Technicians Must:

  • Must have NYS Veterinary Technician’s license
  • Some experience working in a veterinary emergency hospital preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds)
  • Flexibility and the ability to accommodate shift work in a hospital that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Have great people skills
  • Communicate well in person, over email, and on the phone
  • Love of animals and a passion to help and heal, first and foremost

Experienced Veterinary Assistants

Veterinary Assistants at Guardian Veterinary Emergency are the backbone of our team, supporting our veterinary technicians and veterinarians in providing the best possible care to our patients.

We are looking for someone who is positive, friendly, and able to communicate clearly and concisely, even in stressful situations. You should be able to think on your feet and be adaptable, following the flow of the day and changing course as needed, while still staying within the guidelines and demonstrating sound judgment.

Qualifications:

  • Love of animals and a passion to help and heal, first and foremost
  • The desire to continually learn and grow
  • 2 years’ experience in a veterinary hospital/clinic working as an assistant or 1 year experience in a veterinary hospital/clinic AND completion from a veterinary/assistant/veterinary science program
